Going Bananas for The Body Shop

I have been a big fan of The Body Shop for a long time now and they recently came up with something a bit different that really caught my attention. Banana scented shampoo and conditioner. Yes, you heard me right. Banana. To me banana is right up there with marmite, it seems to be one of the ultimate love it or hate it scents. I personally love it and this brilliant haircare set has become a permanent resident in my shower. It gives me all the summer feels and has been just what I have needed to brighten these grey August days.
The range is called Banana Truly Nourishing and it is, well, truly nourishing. It really does what it says on the tin, or should that be bottle? I have quite frizzy hair and even when I just use the shampoo and don’t bother with the conditioner (lazy girl alert) my hair is still left feeling so soft and shiny. It has been a long time since I have come across a high street haircare product, bar Aussie’s Frizz Miracle, that can tame my mane the way this does. Good job Body Shop.
So it does it’s job, that’s great! But the key question is, how does it smell? I don’t know about any of you but for me the scent of any product that I use in the shower is of the upmost importance. Luckily, as well as working miracles on my hair, this range also smells amazing. Phew. Well, I mean it is banana so of course it smells sensational. That is unless you hate banana, in which case I’m sorry, this probably isn’t the post for you. Anyway, apologies aside, this sweet & fruity banana scent transports me to different place every time I use it. One day I might be on an exotic island with that ‘if you like pina coladas’ song playing in the background and another day it may take me right back to my childhood in a sweet shop, when I would pick all the foam bananas from the pick’n’mix. Either way it smells stunning, probably because it is made with real organic banana puree from Community Trade farmers in Ecuador. Brilliant.
As well as being an amazing, gorgeous smelling product I think one of the reasons this works so well on my hair is that it is for my hair type, normal to dry. I know this sounds obvious but this isn’t something I normally pay attention to when buying shampoos & conditioners. However, seeing how well this shampoo works on my hair has definitely shown me the power of choosing a product that suits your hair type and I will undoubtedly be looking more closely at labels from now on.

What has your hair been loving this summer? Fruity or fresh, let me know. You all know that I am always on the lookout for new products, although these might be tricky ones to replace. Banana is here to stay, at least for now, & neither me nor my hair could be any happier about it.
