Style File: It’s All In The Frill

One of my favourite depop purchases of recent times, amongst a waffle fabric dress and an oversized blazer, has to be this dramatic frilled shirt. A spin on an all time wardrobe favourite, this guy is fitted through the body, has an oversized ruffle edged peter pan collar and has elongated sleeves with funnel detailing at the ends and more ruffles.

I have wanted a shirt like this for a while now, as they seem like a surprisingly versatile layering piece. Dramatic and dressy alone, cute and country under dungarees and a bit girl next door under a jumper – I love how the collar and sleeve detailing give this shirt so many options. It also had a tieback when I received it, but for me that was a bit of an over-design and it was quickly removed.

Before you see this piece dotted around many an outfit, I thought it deserved a bit of its own time in the spotlight and its sculptural nature meant there was only one thing to do, get my dramatic on.

I’m sure this shirt won’t be for everyone, but the basic white shirt comes in so many forms that if you haven’t found the ‘one’ yet, it will definitely be out there. Also if you love this shirt and want to search for it secondhand, it is originally from ASOS.

  1. Hi Holly, very retro! Do you accessorise?
I see floryday adds on your blog. Do you buy from them? Are they reputable? They have a lot of nice things but reviews don’t seem to be so good?

    1. Hi Kealie, thank you and sometimes – I am not big on the accessories but do love a good necklace!
Google Adsense chooses the ads that get put up so unfortunately I’m not sure about floryday, sorry! xx
