I can’t quite believe that I have managed to hold on for this long without sharing this dress with you. Madness! You may remember I featured this checked number from Gestuz in a New Finds & Current Favourites a fair while ago and of course it was just one of those pieces that I missed the boat on. I was too indecisive (as ever) and by the time I’d decided that I DID want it, it was too late – sold out and nowhere to be found. Cue an Ebay saved search and a some dedicated Depop time and a couple of months later I finally got my hands on it. And here it is…
I’m not often one for a maxi dress, but the tiered trend has really caught my imagination. I have always loved any clothing that makes a strong shape or silhouette and for that reason it just ticks all the boxes for me. A lot of people would say that this isn’t the style of dress that I should be wearing as a 5″6 lady, but I say if you love it – just go for it. Brittany Bathgate really hit the nail on the head with a chat about wearing clothes that you love, not those that people tell you will suit you in one of her latest Outfit Diaries and if you struggle with wearing the shapes YOU want then I’d really recommend you give it a watch.
Dress – Gestuz (Depop) | Shoes – Dr Martens | Glasses – Ace and Tate
I wore this dress for my 22nd (!!) birthday party a couple of weeks ago and the only choice of shoes to go with it was of course my Dr Martens. I love the combination of a lovely dress with dress-down shoes, either trainers or chunky boots and I am definitely going to be adding a coat and tights to that mix to take it into the winter.
Are you into the tiered dress trend and do you love a big silhouette?
Belated Happy Birthday! This is such a lovely yellow dress, it looks great on you 🙂 I agree that we should wear clothes because we love wearing them, not having to care what others think. Have a lovely weekend!
Thank you Anna, that’s so kind of you! It’s the best way to wear clothes isn’t it. Have a lovely week x
