As I spoke about in my last Card Haul, I love the process of buying cards. Finding a card that is perfect for someone you love is one of the best feelings in the world. Full stop. Since my last haul I seem to have amounted quite a few new cards for my nearest, dearest and as back ups for every occasion. This is my way of saying I have bought way too many, oops! Today I thought I’d share a few of my favourite purchases and where I bought them from. Alongside this, let’s chat about how you can save a tonne of money, whilst still buying beautiful cards; and three companies that have caught my eye recently, which are all must-visits for anyone who adores cards & stationary as much as yours truly.
Taking a look at my selection you may be thinking that a lot of these cards are lurrrrve themed and wondering why, since we are nowhere near Valentine’s Day. Well, you all know that I love to find a bargain and one of the best ways to get a bargain card is to buy after the event. I know what you are thinking, but what is the point after Valentine’s Day has been and gone?
The secret: holidays come round every year, so after a year of buying cards in the sales you will be ahead of yourself for the next year and (in theory) shouldn’t have to buy (many) cards full price ever again. Oh happy days! Christmas cards for this year? I already have a stash from the January sales. If you can be smart with your sales shopping you can save a lot of money, and who doesn’t love to save money? Most of these cards were a pound or less and I can’t wait to start sending them to all my lovely friends to show them how loved they are… next year! Forward planning or what? Gosh, I feel very organised… perhaps I have too much time on my hands.
Let’s take a look at what we’ve got here then…
Be My Galentine – Elum Designs | Hello Goodbye Postcard – Paperchase | Bananas about You – Sadler Jones | Baegel – Central 23 | Toy Dogs & Birthday Cake – Ladybird Vintage | Instantly – Elum Designs | Women in Science Postcard – Rachel Ignotofsky | Thank You – Ink Sandwich for Early Bird Designs | Playing the Gallery (Grayson Perry) – Waterstones
As you can see, there is a lot of gorgeousness here and as much as I’d love to talk about each and every one of these cards in immense detail (and you know that I could), we haven’t got all day. So, let’s just talk about a few of the details shall we? I love the beautiful debossing (opposite of embossing) on the Galentines card and the retro vibes of the instant camera card are just heavenly. Both of these cards are from a new discovery of mine, Elum Designs. Unfortunately, Elum is an American company so getting your hands on their beautifully made cards if you are UK based isn’t as easy as popping round the corner. However, never fear they often pop up in TKMaxx (the mothership) and they do deliver to the UK too, phew.
Alongside discovering stunning cards, I often come across gorgeous companies and stationary ideas that are just too good not to share. If you love stationary, you are definitely going to love these:
1. Happy Mail by Oui Fresh (from the brains behind the perfection that is, A Beautiful Mess) is a paper goods subscription service and each month you can buy a package of surprise cards, art prints and fun. Now this is the sort of post I like to get!
2. Kikki.K is a world of cuteness. One day I would love to buy one of their adorable planners and all the useful inserts that go with them – my current favourite is this one and I also adore all their homewares, so delicate yet fun!
3. I am so excited for the launch of Paper by Her, from what I can see from her gorgeous Instagram this paper goods company is going to be all sorts of lovely. Have you signed up for updates yet?
Where’s your favourite place to pick up cards at bargain prices? And which company’s products are you lusting after currently?
