Quotes Inspiring Me Right Now

I am always looking for new ways to get inspired and my latest discovery is the power of a good quote. Since this discovery, I have begun starting my days by reading quotes to get me motivated and in the right mindset for the day ahead. You might be thinking that sounds so cheesy & cliche because, quite frankly, it is, but if it works then who cares? As cheesy as it sounds, it is surprisingly effective. It is similar to the concept of reading positive affirmations, which is something that you might have come across – explaining and repeating positive statements about yourself & your life.  As people say if you tell someone something enough times they will begin to believe it, so why can’t we use that in a positive way too. There is nothing wrong with a morning pep talk to get you going for a great day where you can face all the challenges thrown at you. Reading quotes refocuses me and today I thought I would share a few of my favourites and where I discover the quotes I love…

‘Time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time’ – unknown

This is one of my all time favourites. It essentially saying that if you love what you are doing then that is the most important thing and it doesn’t matter what other people think. They might think you are wasting your time, but if you are having fun then, most of the time, who cares! I mean, you could use this as an excuse to get away with doing a lot of stuff that is deemed as time wasting, which isn’t so great, but actually I think as long as you are spending time doing what you enjoy and working towards an end goal at least some, or all of the time, then you aren’t wasting time no matter what other people’s opinions are.

‘If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely’ – Roald Dahl

Everyone who I have showed these quotes to so far seems to have adored this Roald Dahl line. It is such a lovely concept and I think it couldn’t be more accurate. One of the most beautiful things is to see is someone who is radiating happiness and Roald was right, as a result they normally look radiant themselves. This quote is a lovely reminder to stay positive and dwell on the good things in life, even when it it tough, and one of my absolute favourites.

‘What’s coming will come and we’ll meet it when it does’ – Hagrid, Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire

The last quote I am going to highlight is this awesome line from Harry Potter, surely you all knew that I’d manage to slot one from my favourite series in somewhere! I feel like this is such an under appreciated line, and actually that Hagrid has a lot of great things to say. This quote always reminds me to try not to worry about the future because, yes, it is coming, that’s inevitable and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. But, there’s no need to over-worry about it because whatever the future holds when it arrives you will be ready to meet it and, good or bad, you will meet it together with the people around you. Good old Hagrid!

As well as these quotes, there are so many more that really resonate with me and so I thought I’d just share a few more below…

  • ‘Ever tried. Ever Failed. No Matter. Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better.’ – Samuel Beckett
  • ‘Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get’ – Dale Carnegie
  • ‘Only seek to be more of yourself’ – unknown
  • ‘There’s bravery in being soft’ – unknown
  • ‘Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first’ – Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City
  • ‘The most effective way to do it, is to do it’ – Amelia Earhart

So, where do I find my quotes?

Daily Quote App – I have tried a few different apps, but my firm favourite for about a year now has been Daily Quote. This is free on the App Store and gives you a new inspirational quote every single day. They’re never too long and are just enough to give you a little boost of motivation in the morning. Alongside this, my favourite feature of the app is that if you love a particular quote you can bookmark it and it will save it for you so you can go back to it whenever you want. Genius.

Pinterest – I love Pinterest and it is one of my favourite places to find inspiration, so when I began to discover quotes on my favourite site, I knew I’d discovered something great. It is so cool how many awesome illustrators have drawn the quotes in such beautiful ways, and there are so many pink themed ones that it makes my heart sing. I tend to save my favourite ones on my Quotes board, gosh some of them are so beautiful – you can check it out here.

What are your favourite quotes and how do you find motivation?
