July Favourites

I cannot believe that July is already drawing to a close, can someone please explain to me how that happened? It has gone by in a whirlwind and along the way I have discovered some really great new favourites that I think you are going to love. I can’t wait to share with you what I have been wearing, watching, listening to, reading and just generally loving this month, so let’s get started, I mean I have a lot to get through so if we don’t get going who knows how long this will take!

First of all I have recently been re-watching all the old episodes of ‘Glee‘ and I am so happy to say that I have finally reached my favourite season, Season 3. For any of you who don’t know, Glee is a ‘musical comedy-drama’ T.V. series set in an American high school. It follows the story of a Glee Club and its members on their mission to win the National Championships and it is brilliant. The humour in this series has me in stitches and yet at the same time the show addresses a lot of really important hard-hitting issues that face today’s teens. It is definitely one of my favourite series of all time and if you are a lover of music or a good teen-drama then I think this would be right up your street.
Staying on the subject of teen-dramas, I recently rediscovered the somewhat epic film ‘Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging‘, which is based on the book (of almost the same name) by Louise Rennison. I loved this film when I was in my early teens and watching it again was like being reunited with an old friend. One of my favourite things about this film is how genuinely relatable it is, every girl, and many boys for that matter, will find a part of this film that they can relate to and it definitely holds a special place in my heart. Not to mention it has a killer soundtrack.
On the subject of music, is any of you watched Gareth Malone’s ‘The Naked Choir’ few years ago you will be familiar with the fun loving bunch of guys that make up the amazing accappella group, ‘The Sons of Pitches’. I have been a huge fan of this group for such a long time and after many an awesome covers album they have released their first self written album, entitled ‘Don’t Fret’, and let me tell you it does not disappoint. I have put it in this month’s favourites because I have been listening to it non-stop and I was lucky enough to get them to sign my copy when I last went to see them, making this CD extra special. My favourite tracks are ‘Lovin’ You More’ and ‘More Than Gold’, you should definitely check them out and visit the Sons of Pitches Youtube here.

Something else that I have been listening to this month is the ‘At Home With…’ podcast series by Lily Pebbles and The Anna Edit. It has had me HOOKED. In each episode Anna and Lily join different interesting people in their own homes to chat about their lives and what their home says about them. I absolutely love interiors and the podcast has featured so many people that I have admired for a long time, Zoe Sugg, Giovanna Fletcher and Lisa Eldridge to name a few, so I have really been loving it. If you have never listened to a podcast before I reckon this would be a great one to start with, plus because it is hosted by acast you get a few visuals to look at too. It’s a win, win really.

Other featured things that I have been loving | Adrienne Vittadini Charging Wallet – TKMaxx. This purse/tiny bag has a battery pack inside so your phone will never run out of charge and still looks super stylish. | Rookie Yearbook 3Amazon. I have been rereading this and it is just as beautiful the second time round. I am 100% team Rookie, check out the website here.

Now, onto cosmetics. I have been loving a lot of things this month because summer is a great time to experiment; however, my absolute favourites have to have been my Blank Canvas Cosmetics Contour Palette and my Model Co Creme Rouge Cheek and Lips in Just Peachy. Both of these products are so versatile because they both do more than one thing, meaning less to pack when you go away. Result! The palette holds two contour shades, a peachy toned blush, a powder and a highlight. I really like how big each pan is because you can really get in there with your brush. All the products are really easy to blend and will last all day, making this a great purchase and a firm favourite of mine. Alongside this the Model Co Creme Rouge does exactly what it says on the tin and can be used as a blush and a lipstick. I really like this product because not only is it really pigmented but it gives such a glowing look and I love how easy it is to apply. A great product for on the go.

On my hair I have been using amika’s Bombshell Blowout Spray a lot this month. Again, it is a really versatile product (anyone seeing a theme here!) because you can use it on damp hair for heat protection, texture and lift or you can use it on dry hair for light hold and restyling. In my eyes it is literally a wonder product. I have generally been using it on my damp hair before blow drying it and it makes it SO shiny and bouncy, which makes a nice change from the frizz I normally have to deal with.
Clothes wise, I have made a few nice purchases this July but my favourite by far is this gorgeous peach, zip neck jumper that I picked up in Monki a few weeks ago. It is really comfortable and dare I say practical but it also super cute. The ideal combination. Alongside this something else that is super cute is this pair of 1950s china dogs, oh my gosh. I saw them and HAD to have them. They are so kitsch and I know some of you won’t understand the appeal but I just think they are the cutest and they will definitely be sitting on my desk for a long time to come.
I hope you have enjoyed this rambling post about a few of my favourite things (how many of you sang that) this month and that you have all been enjoying the heatwave we seem to have experiencing here in the UK. What have been your favourites this month? I’d love to know!
Love Holly x
