A Trip to Fowey

My family and I recently took a five day trip to the beautiful Cornwall and stayed on the south coast, in Fowey. It was great to be so near to the seaside because where we live is so far from it and we had a really relaxing break after the chaos of the exam season.

Our little house was literally twenty seconds walk from a small beach called Readymoney Cove and only fifteen minutes walk from the centre of Fowey. This meant we didn’t have to use the car much which was a nice change. From our house we could see the sea alongside the house where Dawn French, supposedly, lives. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to catch a glimpse of her, maybe next time!

Cornwall is just so cute and Fowey is no exception. The streets were tiny and full of brightly coloured houses, and the people were all so friendly. It has so many individual shops and amazing place to eat,  two of my favourites had to be ‘The Fat Cap and Brisket‘, which has only recently opened, and ‘Pintxo‘, a delicious little tapas restaurant. I highly recommend both of them for a fun evening out.

Whilst there we also spent some time visiting friends who had moved down to Cornwall a few years ago. It was lovely to catch up with them and see how they were. It is so important to keep in contact with people who move away and we love organising little trips to see those not so close to us.

The five days went incredibly fast but we had a great time and it was definitely worth the four and a half hour drive it took us to get there. If you are ever in Cornwall pop down to Fowey and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
